OLYMPIC WRESTLING CLUB STATE MEDALISTS - 2006

The Olympic Wrestling Club is extremely proud of our five 2006 NJ State Medalists and one NY State Medalist!  Twenty-one of our wrestlers qualified for the State Tournament – that’s more then we’ve ever qualified - and six came home with medals.  They are:

2^nd Place Medalists

119 – John Trumbetti – St. Joseph’s – Region 2

130 – Trevor Melde – DelBarton – Region 3

130 – Rich Berkowitz – Nanuet, N.Y. – Section 1

3^rd Place Medalist

119 – Tyler Milonas – Jefferson – Region 1

5^th Place Medalist

135 – John Barnett – Jefferson – Region 1

6^th Place Medalist

145 – Matt Morgenstern – Bergen Catholic – Region 2

Medaling in the States is every wrestlers dream…and every club hopes that one of its kids can make it through to the medal round.  To have 6 medalists is more than Olympic could ever hope for!  We’re very proud of all of our wrestlers, and particularly proud of the 6 young men who made it all the way.  We’re also proud of our coaching staff led by Florian.  He, Nino, and Vali have worked hard to make our kids as good as they can be.  It’s nice to see the hard work of our wrestlers and coaches pay off this way at the end of the year.

And what a year it was for Olympic!  We had more County (38), District (62), and Regional (25) medalists than ever before.  We’re gratified by what we’ve seen this year…but hardly satisfied.  We can and will do better next year.  We have kids and coaches who are committed to improve their performance.  We’re already working toward 2007!
