SPRING NEWSLETTER
SPRING NEWSLETTER – 2006
Hello
folks,
Apr 29th, 2006
As we turn our attention from the
recently completed scholastic wrestling season to the summer free style season,
Florian and I wanted to bring you up to date on things we’re working on at the
Club. However, before we turn away from the 2006 season, we wanted to remind
you of our wrestlers’ outstanding accomplishments last year!
PERFORMANCES
2006 was the most productive year
Olympic has ever had! Our wrestlers worked hard and continued to improve.
Their accomplishments are evidence of their hard work. In addition, our Club
continues to attract both experienced wrestlers as well as beginners from all
across northern/central New Jersey. It’s a combination that’s proving to be
unbeatable!
In all a total of 20 Olympic high
school wrestlers made the trip to Atlantic City. This was our largest total
ever! Of these 20, 5 of our guys medaled in the States! John
Trumbetti and Trevor Melde placed 2nd, Tyler Milonas placed 3rd, John Barnett 5th, and Matt
Morgenstern placed 6th! Congratulations guys, you did an
outstanding job!
In the Kids’ States, we had 38 qualifiers, 21 of them medaled, and 5 won State Championships! Joey McKenna, Dylan Milonas, Austin Ormsby, Brandon Rolnick, and Jamie
Westwood all won gold! You guys are the best!
Visit our web site at olympicwrestlingclub.com for a complete list of
all of our 2006 County, District, Regional, and State medalists…both on the high
school and kid level.
SCHOLARSHIP
As many of you know, at the Olympic Wrestling Club we’re as interested in
academic performance as we are in athletic performance. With that in mind, we
are proud to announce the institution of our scholarship award that will be
granted yearly to a deserving senior wrestler. In what may be a first for a
wrestling club in New Jersey, beginning with the next school year (2006/2007),
Olympic will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to the wrestler the
Olympic Scholarship Committee feels best exemplifies the character, spirit, and
attitude of a respected and respectful high school athlete. The award will be
based on specific eligibility, criteria, and requirements. Please see Scott for
more information on this important project.
SUMMER CAMP
Olympic’s
2nd Summer Champ Camp will be held Monday-Thursday, June 26th-29th.
Our format will be similar to last year’s when we had the grade school wrestlers
in session each morning and the high schoolers in the afternoon. We’ll have
several guest instructors throughout the week, and offer technique training and
live matches every day. The cost of the Camp is only $150 for the week (2nd child costs $100). Camp information is available on-line and/or you can get an
enrollment form from Scott. Attendance is limited so sign up now!

SCHEDULE
For
the next few months we’ll be working on free style as well as scholastic. We
plan to maintain this schedule until late July when we’ll revert back to
exclusive scholastic practices. We’ll work on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays.
In fact, we’ve decided to stay on those nights throughout the year. Our times
will vary depending on the number of high school wrestlers in the room…but
basically, Kids are scheduled at 6:15 and High School at 8pm all three nights.
We’ll move the Sunday times to 4:30 for the kids and 6:15 for the lighter high
school guys at some point in late May or early June.
As always Florian and I very much
appreciate your ongoing support. Please let us know what’s on your mind and
feel free to offer ideas on how we can make our Club better.
Have
a great summer!
