SUMMER '05 NEWSLETTER
Olympic’s Summer ‘Happenings’
Dear Friends, July 8, 2005
It’s the middle of the summer and things are sizzling at Olympic! We’ve just completed our first ever Summer Champ Camp and, by all measures, it was a success. We had approximately 35 wrestlers in the room for the four days (June 27-30), and our three guest instructors were terrific! Alex Eduard, Tetsuro Araki, and Danny Vallimont joined Florian and Vali to make the camp truly valuable. Our wrestlers not only had fun but learned all the basic moves needed to succeed in this sport. One of our young wrestlers enjoyed it so much he was overheard to say “I want to sleep here.” We like the Club too but that may be taking it a bit far! Anyway, we were delighted with the way things went and look forward to doing the camp again next year.
In other summer news, Olympic is excited to announce we’ve entered our first tournament. It’s the Jersey Shore National Duals taking place over the weekend of August 13th and 14th in Holmdel, N.J. This tournament features some of the best high school wrestlers on the Eastern seaboard and will be an excellent test for our guys. Some of the New Jersey schools participating are; Southern Regional, Camden Catholic, Paulsboro, Brick Memorial, Bergen Catholic, Buena, and Cinnaminson, just to name a few. Non N.J. teams are coming from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, NYC, and New York State. In all, there are a total of about 40 schools entered. All our wrestlers will have plenty of quality matches and this tournament will be an excellent opportunity for our guys to calibrate their improvement since the last wrestling season ended. If you haven’t yet signed up for this tournament please see Scott for details.
Speaking of tournaments, Olympic wrestlers have seen great success in the tournaments they’ve entered this summer. Some of the highlights are:
High School Senior Nationals – Cleveland Univ. & Cadet FILA Nationals - Chicago
Dan Vallimont – 3rd, 140 lbs John Trumbetti – 4th Greco, 119 lbs
Tom Fazio – 7th, 145 lbs 5th Free, 119 lbs

Congratulations to all on a job extremely well done. We’re proud of your accomplishments!
We’ll be sure to update everyone on our wrestlers’ tournament accomplishments as the results come in. Don’t forget to check out our website at olympicwrestlingclub.com for updated results and other information about events taking place at Olympic.
Olympic is happy to announce we’re bringing back our Junior Winter Special rate program later this year. This program is designed to make it easier for our Junior wrestlers to participate in their in-town recreational programs and still work out at Olympic. Junior wrestlers can train at Olympic any 24 times they want between December 1st and March 31st for only $350. This is a significant saving compared to what it would normally cost to work out at the Club for four months. This program proved to be quite popular last winter and we’re happy to bring it back.
In other rate news, we want to let you know of a slight rate increase that will take effect August 1st of this year. The new rates are posted on the website and Scott has all the details in the office. Any wrestler already under a rate plan that extends beyond August 1st will be grandfathered under their current plan. The new rates only apply to wrestlers who sign up after August 1st. The new rates are designed to help offset some increased operating costs, as well as some capital improvements like installation of air conditioning. Our focus is to make Olympic the very best wrestling room it can be and one of the best facilities in northern New Jersey.
In closing, Florian, Nino, Vali, and I are impressed with the hard work our wrestlers have put in to the sport so far this summer. Many of the boys never took even a night off after the season ended last March! All that hard work will be rewarded next season when more District, Regional, and hopefully, State Champions are crowned.
We’re also gratified by your continued support. Olympic is growing…we have a room full of tough kids, both juniors and high schoolers, alike…our facility is improving…our instructors are second to none…and we’re determined to get even better.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know areas where you think we can improve. We need your input and appreciate your comments.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Florian and Scott
