2006/2007 SEASON RECAP LETTER

Hello friends,

April 2nd, 2007

Florian and I wanted to take a moment to bring you up to date on the just concluded wrestling season and let you know what’s coming at Olympic.  What an incredible season it was for our wrestlers!  We had more high school State Medalists as well as Region and District Champions than ever.  Our grade school wrestlers excelled as well.  As a result, our room is packed with tough kids who want to take advantage of the Olympic system.

We’re very proud of what our wrestlers accomplished this season, particularly our State Champions, Tyler Milonas (130–Jefferson) and Trevor Melde (135–Delbarton), and State Runner-up John Barnett (140-Jefferson).  We also had three Kid’s State Champions – Dylan Milonas (3 x State Champ!), Jorge Lopez, and Joey McKenna.  Congratulations guys, you’ve done very well!

But our list of successes doesn’t end there, in fact, that’s just the start.  Consider this;

  • 23 of our high school wrestlers made it to States…and 11 of them medaled!
  • We had 10 Region Champions and 27 Region medalists in all
  • 27 District Champions and 57 District medalists over all
  • 9 County Champions and 44 County medalists
  • And 13 Kid State medalists
  • You can see all our medalists by going to our web-site at olympicwrestlingclub.com

When you consider how many good wrestlers there are out there these are amazing statistics.  We don’t think anyone gets better training or works harder than the boys at Olympic.  And our results speak for our system and our wrestlers’ effort!

Congratulations also go out to Dan Clarke (140-Ramsey) who just took 3rd in the Junior Nationals in Virginia Beach.  Way to go Danny!

So, now we start over…working toward another season.  Already we’ve got plenty going on.  We’ll be reviewing our wrestlers goals for the ‘07/’08 season the week of April 22nd.  Our free style sessions have already started and we’ll be ramping them up as summer approaches.

We’ve set the dates for our 3rd Champ Camp…dates will be Monday, July 9th-Thursday, July 12th.  Format will be as in past years…details can be found on the web-site.

Lastly, we want to remind our high school seniors that we’re offering a $1,000 scholarship toward their college education.  Applications and information about the scholarship can be picked up at the Club and essays are due by May 15th.  Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for your help and contributions over the past season.  We know the boys can’t do it alone.  It takes a total family commitment!

Florian and Scott
